Recycle Idea

One of my favorite things to do is create something from found objects. Flea Market finds and regular items found in hardware and home improvement stores are great surfaces for painting. I like to make gift containers from cans and jars that we would normally discard. Recycling is not a new idea but with today’s economy and pinched budgets, I think it is time to revisit this.

Paint a gingerbread or snowman face on a soup can. Fill the can with cookies or small gifts. Wrap with cellophane and tie with a festive bow for a great teacher’s gift.

  1. Remove labels and residue. Wash and dry can.

  2. Use DecoArt No-Prep Metal Paint –or- prime can with DecoArt Multi-Purpose Sealer and Americana Acrylics. Let dry.

  3. Add faces with Americana. You can make the face dimensional by using Americana Writers or Snow Writers.

  4. Embellish as desired.
