Using Glue to Add Texture

When you want to add textured pattern to a flat surface, such as a canvas, use common thick craft or tacky glue! "Draw" your patterns over surface and let glue dry. I have even used a hair dryer on low heat setting to partially dry glue, from a safe distance to avoid spreading of glue, and it gives a completely different "wrinkled" look when dried. Paint over the glue texture with acrylic paints. Add a colored glaze or stain gel over painted texture and, while wet, wipe off the excess by lightly rubbing in a circular motion with a soft rag or paper towel. This will highlight the textured patterns and make the pattern pop off the surface.
