Upcycle Project with DecoArt



Distress everyday clay pots and add a chipboard monogram to denote herbs or an initial to match your home décor.

DecoArt Products Required

Americana Acrylics

• DA271 - Espresso
• DA277 - Spa Blue
• DA056 - Olive Green
• DA058 - Antique White
• DA01 - Snow (Titanium) White

Varnish

• DA051 - Duraclear Satin Varnish

Supplies

1" Flat Brush
Brayer
Foam stamp of choice
Wax candle
Sanding block
Foam Brush
Tacky Glue
Rubber Bands

Surfaces

Clay pot- size of choice
Chipboard letter- size and letter of choice

Instructions

• Basecoat the pot Espresso using the 1” flat brush. Let dry and rub surface of pot and chipboard randomly with wax candle.

• Paint the pot Spa Blue, Olive Green or Antique White. Paint letter Espresso. When dry, lightly rub surface of pot and chipboard letter to reveal distressed surface. (areas where wax was applied will rub off)

• Coat brayer with Snow White. Use brayer to coat foam stamp. Randomly stamp image on pot surface. Don’t worry if entire image does not transfer, this is the look you are trying to achieve.

• Use foam brush to coat pot with varnish. When dry, use tacky glue to adhere letter by placing glue on back of letter and pressing to bottom of pot. If needed, hold letter in place with rubber bands by wrapping around pot and letter.
